Bereka means “blessing” in Amharic. Bereka Products recently became an official Business in the summer of 2005, but has been an ever-evolving creation and idea of Hanna Mulu Selassie, and later joined by Jenna Henson. Hanna's inspiration came from living in different countries throughout the world, learning their kitchen secrets and the power of herbs. Hanna and Jenna met at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado in 1998. Hanna’s passion for cooking food was complimented by Jenna’s wide knowledge of food Nutrition.

Working as an events coordinator for the University gave Hanna a chance to share her love of community and food by cooking traditional dishes for students, faculty, and the general public.

The dream of Bereka started taking its own personality in the summer of 2004 when the owner of a popular local restaurant hired Hanna to cater events and concerts, serving her ethnic food to groups over 150 people at each event.

The name is a shortened named for her favorite king, Ras-Kasa. Now Ras-Ka is accessible to everyone, designed to fit our rushed life. It provides the ability to enjoy cooking gourmet in a timely manner. Most people love Ras-Ka’s versatility and endless possibilities. See some creative suggestions for how to use the sauce.
